36 Hours in Charlotte & Shelburne

The first warm days of spring have us daydreaming about Adirondack sunsets, smoky bonfires, dewy mornings, and the farm veggies and fruit only long, hot days can produce. Summer is calling! So we’ve curated a guide to the perfect 36 hours in the pastoral towns of Charlotte and Shelburne to help you plan one epic Vermont weekend this summer. We're filling up on these bites, sips, and adventures when we find ourselves only 7-15 miles south of Burlington.

Friday

  • Pop into the cute Village Wine & Coffee Shop right in the heart of Shelburne Village to caffeinate and sit with friends before an afternoon of walking and exploring. Peruse the wine bottles before you make your way down the road to our next spot.

  • Plan an afternoon for Shelburne Farms because there is so much to see and do. Explore the extensive walking trails, visit the farmyard animals, pop into O’Bread Bakery for a freshly baked loaf of bread to take home, watch cheesemaking in action and taste the farmstead cheese. During the summer season you can pop into the Inn, perched next to the lake, for a meal. Or simply enjoy a cocktail in hand while you peruse the formal gardens and take in the epic view.

Saturday

  • Stop by Old Brick Store in the center of sweet little Charlotte for breakfast and to grab tasty sandwiches and their out of this world cookies for your picnic basket. Grab it to go for a hike and summit lunch at Mount Philo! But give yourself time to shop around, owner Jolene has curated an amazing market and shop.

  • Cool off post-hike at Charlotte Beach. If you want to break a (another) sweat before your swim, bring your tennis or pickleball gear and hit the courts. Bonus, there’s a sweet playground for kiddos and picnic tables and grills at the ready for your al fresco feasting.

  • Stop by Head Over Fields (right on Rt 7) to stock up on fresh veg for the week and shop their cute as can be farm stand. Join us at this picturesque farm for this year’s Summer Solstice Adventure Dinner on June 20th!
